Question: Q: Failed attempt to install El Capitan, now cannot restart in previous version. I tried to upgrade to El Capitan from OS X 10.6.8, which I realise is not possible. On restart, Mac keeps trying to install it and now I can't get back into my Mac at all. Process: I created a USB disk with a bootable El Capitan as per this documentation. Two releases of BitMeter OS are currently available - the v0.7.6 release is fairly stable and well tested, the v0.8.0 release has some compellingnew features, but has not been subject to as much testing and is likely to contain more bugs. Functionally, the main difference between the two is that v0.8.0 can distinguish between Internet and Home Network Traffic, whereas v0.7.6 cannot.

Members of the Unity Linux community have also produced RPM files for both 32-bit and 64-bit Linux, see this forum post for details.
Desktop Client (experimental, only works with v0.7.x of BitMeter OS)
This client provides a floating graph window on the desktop, displaying data captured by BitMeter OS. It is in the early stages of development, andwill certainly contain bugs. You must install BitMeter OS before using this client, it won't work on its own. You will also need to have Python, andthe wxPython libraries, installed on your system - most Linux and OSX systems should have these already, Windows users can download them from here: Windows Python installer, wxPython libraries.
The source code for this utility should provide a useful reference for for anyone wishing to develop other BitMeter OS clients - Python code isquite easy to understand even if you haven't used the language before.
Installing El Capiton on an old Mac Book Pro today, I received the error:
OS X could not be installed on your computer
No packages were eligible for install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.
I checked Apple’s support Matrix (it is a very old macbook pro) at https://support.apple.com/kb/SP728?locale=en_GB and it was listed as supported.
After lots of Googling and investigation, I discovered that the date and time were not set to current, the macbook thought it was year 2000.

You can easily reset the time and date by following the steps below:
